In 1991 Greg earned an Associates of Applied Science in Survival and Rescue Operations; in 1993, he graduated from the University of Washington's Medex (PA) program and began practice as a PA working in medically underserved areas and with underserved populations.
In 2007, Greg went back to school and earned his master’s degree in PA medicine with a focus on wilderness and emergency medicine (he is the only PA to have ever earned this degree concentration) and in 2012, Dr. Davenport earned his doctorate in health science with a focus in leadership and organizational behavior.
Dr. Davenport began full time academic work in 2009 (as an assistant professor at Harding University) and since then he has personally built three Physician Assistant programs through medical and regional accreditation. In addition, he created and received regional accreditation for the George Fox University Doctor of Medical Science program (with a focus on 'humanitarian' service). This program is the first of its kind, allowing PA graduates to earn a doctorate through advanced placement, dual enrollment, and taking several asynchronous courses once licensed.
In 2020, Dr. Davenport created the first Emergency Management and Global Health concentration in the Doctor of Medical Science degree. The program was based on his prior research, boots on ground experience, and education aptitude and used his personal vignettes, videos, photographs, and audio works to advance discussion.
